Narcotics traffing, port of entry, hazardous materials, protecting and patrolling the Rio Grande River, Airport Security, are all part of the “global reality” our Laredo Police and Fire Fighters must face everyday. Under the Homeland Security agenda, we ask you to take into consideration funding for an Emergency Operation Center, Hazmat Response Vehicle, and as well as additional staffing for both our Police and Fire Departments. As a former fireman for the City of Laredo, I know first hand the importance of having adequately trained and fully equipped front line personnel.
