“Our 'global perspective' includes the concern for preservation, restoration, and improvement of the natural environment. We ask you to take into consideration a proposal from our City’s Solid Waste Department which deals with used tires and the implementation of a solid waste fee that could assist in the administration of a tire disposal program.”

“As you may know, used tires which are not properly discarded can pose environmental and even health concerns. Tires that are thrown on the side of the road, for example, can carry stagnate water that serves as a breeding ground for mosquitoes and further, a risk of Dengue Fever, West Nile Virus, and other vector borne diseases. This is why we ask you to review the Solid Waste Fee and Tire item on this agenda. We feel a program like this would greatly benefit our community.”
