With the City’s growth, the development of new parks and open spaces has been rather challenging, especially with the substantial reductions in funds allocated by the last legislative session to the Texas Recreation and Parks Account Grant Program administered by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The decrease in funds could be detrimental to future park development. In the past, the City has successfully obtained $700,000 from TPWD projects such as the Seven Flags Park Rehabilitation, Zacate Creek Linear Park, and more.
