1. Authorizing the City Manager to execute an amendment to the contract with Denton, Navarro, Rocha & Bernal, a professional corporation for additional legal services to assist the Acting City Attorney with such assistance to include legal advice, counsel evaluation, ordinance and document preparation and litigation services for the City of Laredo. The additional services will be needed until additional staff is hired in the Legal department. This additional contract amount is estimated not to exceed $25,000.00 including other reimbursable expenses such as hotel and travel expenses. The new contract amount is $100,000.00. Funding is available in the Legal Department Budget.
V. EXECUTIVE SESSION
The City Council hereby reserves the right to go into executive session at any time during this public meeting, if such is requested by the City Attorney or other legal counsel for the City, pursuant to his or her duty under Section 551.071(2) of the Government Code, to consult privately with his or her client on an item on the agenda, or on a matter arising out of such item.
2. Request for Executive Session pursuant to Texas Government Code Section 551.071 (1) (A) to consult with attorney on the pending case of Laredo Town Center, L.P. v. City of Laredo, Cause No. 2007CVQ000972D1 in the 49th District Court, Webb County, Texas; and return to open session for possible action.
